Stamp Duty Tax
Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT or Stamp Duty) is a tax due on all property purchases, whether new build or pre-owned. Your solicitor or conveyancer will normally calculate and pay your Stamp Duty on your behalf, on Legal Completion. You can pay HMRC directly but all Stamp Duty must be paid within 14 days of Legal Completion. Stamp Duty rates and thresholds vary depending on the value of the property you are purchasing and your status – use the tool below to quickly calculate the amount.
