HOUSEBUILDER’S £500 SUPPORT FOR FAIRFORD’S PALMER HALL REFURBISHMENT IS ‘THE ICING ON THE CAKE’ SAYS FUNDRAISER

Mon, 10 August

A company building new homes in Fairford has donated ‘the icing on the cake’ to complete an appeal for the £2,000 needed to finish the latest phase of the refurbishment of the Gloucestershire town’s 84-year-old Palmer Hall in London Road.

Cotswold Homes Ltd, which is building just eight three- and four-bedroom detached homes at Fairford Gardens, a greenfield site adjacent to June Lewis Way, has contributed £500 enabling the fundraisers to achieve their latest target.

Christine Roberts, one of a team helping to refurbish the historic community hall in the centre of Fairford, has already raised £70,000 to update the toilets, add a disabled toilet, improve the stage and decorate the hall.

She said: ‘The final £2,000 phase is a kitchen upgrade, including new cupboard doors, worktops, splashbacks, sink and taps. Cotswold Homes’ donation of £500 is the icing on the cake which will enable us to complete the project.’

Chair of the Palmer Hall Committee, Sue Crowley, said: ‘We are extremely grateful to Cotswold Homes for this generous donation which will enable us to finalise the upgrade of this much-loved historic hall.’

Meanwhile, with a marketing suite already welcoming visitors at Fairford Gardens, the housebuilder is finalising plans to open a viewhome next month.

‘This charming retreat of  just eight three- and four-bedroom detached high specification homes, carefully crafted to complement the surrounding area, has proved to be so popular that 50 per cent of the four-bedroom properties were snapped up by buyers within weeks,’ reports Cotswold Homes’ sales and marketing director Terri Hayes-Pugh.

Annie King-Sharpe, Cotswold Homes’ sales consultant at Fairford Gardens, reports that demand for these high-quality new homes has been overwhelming.

She said: ‘With half of them already sold, potential buyers will need to act swiftly.’
