Work is underway to create brand new homes on the site of Mangotsfield’s former Church of England Infant and Junior Primary School on the junction of Richmond Road and St James Street.

The South Gloucestershire village north-east of Bristol is popular with commuters keen to swop the city for a home location which, with its open green spaces and mature trees, still retains a village ‘feel.’

The scheme, named Richmond Grove, has been designed by Yate-based housebuilder Cotswold Homes to echo the external appearance of the old-established villas in Richmond Road and as a homage to the previous school building.

Planned to maximise the use of space and natural light, the new homes will have open-plan kitchen-dining suites with French windows opening on to ready-turfed and enclosed gardens, each with an external water tap.

The plans show plenty of storage space and at first floor level they feature Juliet balconies.

With a vibrant community on the doorstep and local amenities within a short walk – with more in nearby Downend and Emerson’s Green – Richmond Grove residents will be well-served by public transport; a nearby bus-stop provides access to central Bristol.

Terri expects that the firm’s no-hidden-extras policy and the Government’s Help-to-Buy scheme will play key roles in attracting buyers.
