Pride in the Job Awards 2015

For the fourth year running an employee of a local housebuilding company has won one of the Pride in the Job Awards presented annually by the National House-Building Council (NHBC) to site managers whose work achieves the highest standards.

A site manager of the firm’s Mangotsfield development is honoured for the fourth consecutive year by the National House-Building Council.

Dave Beckey (51) whose home is in Warmley, won this year’s award in recognition of his work leading the construction team on the Wildwood development built by Tormarton-based Cotswold Homes Ltd in the Mangotsfield area of South Gloucestershire.

Last year Dave, who can draw on 30 years of experience in the building industry, received the award in recognition of the high quality of his work on Cotswold Homes’ site at Cam near Dursley in Gloucestershire.

During each of the two previous years he was shortlisted from more than 13,000 entrants to receive awards for his work on Cotswold Homes’ Knowle development, The Villas, and Mulberry Grove in Staple Hill.

A second Cotswold Homes site manager also has won a Pride in the Job Award this year. He is Phil Loader (65) who lives at Cricklade near Swindon.

Phil, who has 49 years of building industry experience, joined Cotswold Homes two-and-a-half years ago. His award reflects the quality of construction at The Dell, a unique four-bedroom, four-bathroom family mansion built by the company in the Stoke Bishop area of Bristol.

Both awards will be presented at a special ceremony in Exeter in September.

Commenting on his site managers’ achievements, Cotswold Homes’ head of construction, Guy Edge, said: ‘As a company we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality homes to our customers. To achieve two Pride in the Job Awards in one year for the second time is a huge achievement of which we are proud. It takes our tally to six awards in just four years.’

Guy added that success in the NHBC Pride in the Job Award competition gives the morale of all Cotswold Homes employees ‘a huge boost.’ ‘This is because independent assessors confirm that they regard us as a consistently high-quality builder of new homes and our customers can only benefit from this recognition,’ he explained.

Success in the award scheme represents much more than industry recognition, according to Terri Hayes-Pugh who heads Cotswold Homes’ sales and marketing team.

‘It has a direct and positive effect on sales,’ she says. ‘Many of today’s home-buyers fully recognise the value of NHBC endorsements like these which, they say, give them extra confidence with regard to the quality of our new homes when purchasing.

‘No doubt that was instrumental in the recent sell-out success on our developments in Bristol and Cheltenham.’

Now Cotswold Homes is preparing to take the wraps off plans for several other new developments across the region, initially in the Downend area of Bristol as well as Clevedon and Cheltenham.

Many of the homes will be planned to meet the needs of young families; others will be designed to match the requirements of those approaching retirement.
