Primary school pupils make history with help from Cotswold Homes
Parkwall Primary School pupil Kendrix Pineda (10) leads classmates filling the time capsule, assisted by Terri Hayes-Pugh of Cotswold Homes.
History is being made by local primary school pupils whose great-grandchildren could be among those in for a surprise.
At Parkwall Primary School in Cadbury Heath a class of 28 pupils aged between eight and ten have filled a time capsule with items chosen to help children of the future learn about today’s lifestyles if they dig it up in 100 years’ time.
Discussions led by teaching assistant Gerry Woodruff helped the class to identify more than 30 objects representing their school today and the local area in which they live. Other artefacts in the capsule range from coins to a DVD featuring the television series Top Gear.
Gerry encouraged pupils to write profiles of themselves and letters addressed to children of the future.
Now plans are in hand for the sealed time capsule to be buried on the site of the nearby Cotswold Homes development, Charlotte Mews in Heath Rise.
The success of the development is underlined by the firm’s head of sales and marketing, Terri Hayes-Pugh, who reports that all but two of the 16 new homes have been sold to buyers attracted by the fact that they are modern, energy-efficient and require only low maintenance.
She said: ‘Many buyers have been attracted by our no hidden extras policy whereby the purchase price includes the big five fully-integrated Smeg appliances – oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washer/drier and dishwasher.’
Other standard features range from semi-pedestal basins to maximise floor space in bathrooms, chrome towel rails and contemporary vinyl flooring to built-in wardrobes in some bedrooms and stylish fixtures and fittings.
Today’s news coincides with the launch of Cotswold Homes’ new GameChanger incentive which, subject to terms and conditions, offers buyers help with moving costs. The package includes carpets and assistance with the payment of both stamp duty and estate agency fees.
