Families putting down roots by buying a new home in Downend can look forward to a wonderful sight in the spring.

Local housebuilder Cotswold Homes, which has sold all but one of the nine new homes on its Princess Way development next to Badminton Road Methodist Church, has donated to the local community nine Japanese flowering cherry trees which ‘will be a picture when they are all in blossom next spring,’ according to the firm’s head of sales and marketing, Terri Hayes-Pugh.

‘Those who have been watching the ITV series Joanna Lumley's Japan will have some idea of the treat in store for them,’ she added.

Cotswold Homes has donated the nine Tai haku white-flowered ornamental cherry trees – one for each decade of the Queen’s life – to Downend and Bromley Heath in Bloom to mark the Queen’s ninetieth birthday earlier this year.

Chris Boulton, chairman of Downend and Bromley Heath in Bloom, gave Terri a hand when she visited Downend’s King George V Park to plant the first of the trees.

By the time the Queen’s trees are in blossom next spring, all the new homes at Princess Way will be occupied, reports Terri.

Designed by Cotswold Homes’ in-house team, the properties feature flexible accommodation which can be adapted to the needs of today’s modern households.

The exclusively private homes range from two-and-a-half storey properties to four-bedroom detached homes. They include a brand new design for an innovative three-bedroom detached home with a garage.

All but one of the homes have now been sold. The remaining property – featuring a utility room, study and four spacious bedrooms ready for occupation soon – is priced at £450,000.
