It's an awards hat trick for Cotswold Homes Site Manager
BSG Safety Awards 2014
Local building site manager Dave Beckey (49) is celebrating a hat trick as he collects his third industry award in as many years.
Dave, whose home is in Kingswood and has worked with housebuilder Cotswold Homes Ltd for several years, has been chosen to receive one of the industry’s prestigious BSG Safety Awards which have been presented annually for more than ten years by The Building Safety Group Ltd.
BSG – a leading health, safety and environmental consultancy providing training courses and offering advice to the UK construction industry – says that winning the award is not only a fantastic achievement for the site manager but it also reflects on the company as a whole.
Following annual inspections, safety advisers nominate the best site managers in their region before a panel of company directors and principal advisers select the winners. Dave was chosen from six nominees in the Bristol region – one of seven in the UK – in recognition of his work on Cotswold Homes’ site at Cam near Dursley in Gloucestershire.
Commenting on that development in its online announcement of award winners, BSG says: ‘The site has always been very tidy and well organised and David is clearly in control of the site. Welfare facilities are always fully functional, properly supplied and regularly cleaned. Site records are up to date and well kept. Paperwork is to a good standard.
‘Our principal safety adviser for the Bristol area has dealt with Cotswold Homes for some five years and liaises regularly with all levels of management and is impressed by their high levels of commitment to Health and Safety and feels that Guy Edge, the head of construction, should be mentioned too as he is fully committed to BSG and strives to maintain best practice with regards to the selection of subcontractors and endeavours to achieve standards higher than the law requires.'
For the past two years, Dave has been shortlisted from more than 13,000 entrants to receive one of the industry’s coveted Pride in the Job Awards presented annually for 34 years by the National House-Building Council (NHBC) to the site managers whose work achieves the highest standards. The NHBC, which sets industry standards to protect homeowners, is the leading provider of warranties and insurance for UK house builders.
This month Dave starts work on a new Cotswold Homes site, Wildwood in the South Gloucestershire village of Mangotsfield where 31 new homes are planned.
The designs of the primarily three- and four-bedroom contemporary new homes with gardens have been borrowed from three of Cotswold Homes’ most successful and fast-selling developments in the past three years. They are The Bridge at OIdland Common, Coastline in Clevedon and The Spa at Holt near Bradford-on-Avon.
Some have spacious glazed atriums and modern French doors with Juliette balconies. Others include a spacious open-plan hub in which a family can cook, eat and relax together. This concept proved to be so popular at The Bridge that all the properties were sold in a matter of weeks.
