Cotswold Homes Sponsors Tytherington rock concert
RockPipes – described as ‘a Celtic rock band with a difference’ – will make its Tytherington parish church debut in September with sponsorship support from local housebuilder Cotswold Homes Ltd which is constructing new homes in the South Gloucestershire village.
The group of local professional musicians typically play a mix of rock classics from Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Abba and Coldplay to traditional Scottish and Celtic numbers. Their programme at St James Church will be adapted to match the make-up and mood of the audience.
‘This will be a night to remember,’ predicts the event organiser Roger Bellis who says that the church is keen to be known as a community concert venue as well as holding church services. Concerts are regarded as just one of several ways to raise the £5,000 needed to relay the churchyard path and rebuild the retaining wall.
Building work at The Paddocks, Cotswold Homes’ development of two-bedroom bungalows and three- and four-bedroom high-specification detached homes in the village, is continuing apace with almost half of the new homes in the first phase of the development already sold.
Plans for the next phase will be unveiled soon in the new marketing suite in the car park of The Swan at Tytherington in Duck Street. Open daily from 10 am to 5 pm it welcomes would-be buyers keen to learn what is planned, ask questions about the new homes available, see the range of floor plans and finishes on offer and find out about financial assistance which may be available.
People living locally have been in the vanguard of those expressing interest.
Tickets for the RockPipes concert at 7.30 am on Saturday, September 21 (£12.50 and £8 for 16 and under) are available from Tytherington Village Shop. Alternatively call 01454501431 or email stjames@mail.co.uk
