A scheme designed to help schoolchildren relate to each other and with adults has been made possible for a Corsham primary school thanks to Cotswold Homes.

When the firm – currently building new homes at Corsham Rise in Potley Lane – heard of plans at nearby Neston Primary School for pupils’ mental health and wellbeing, it stepped in to help pay for some of the furnishings required for an innovative £800 ‘pod’ designed to assist break-out learning. 

‘Our pod will support the enhancement of children’s learning and social interactions with others by providing mental health support in a quiet, comfortable and unique space,’ explains head teacher Pam Evans.

‘It will give them the space sometimes needed to take time out and reflect or to have a quiet moment to communicate with a supportive member of staff or their peers.’

Handing over the new sofa, desk and shelving needed to help furnish the pod, Cotswold Homes’ head of sales and marketing, Terri Hayes-Pugh, said: ‘We know all about the importance of quiet comfortable areas in which to pause and reflect, not only at school and work but in the home as well. That is an important aspect in the design of the family homes we are creating at Corsham Rise and on our new Broughton Court development at nearby Broughton Gifford.’

For would-be buyers on both developments two fully-furnished showhomes in Potley Lane are open for viewing.

‘They enable visitors to see for themselves the family appeal of these homes,’ explains Terri. ‘Our showhomes are furnished in a way which gives visitors a very real impression of the way members of a family with individual tastes and interests might enjoy living together.’
