Reports Tammy: ‘Everyone got to know each other and we now have a close-knit community on our doorstep, with people helping each other with tasks like dog-walking, grass-cutting and putting out refuse for collection when neighbours are away.’

The four-bedroom showhome is one of the last available properties at Corsham Rise in the Wiltshire town which, thanks to one of the couples who made their home there, is already a vibrant community.

First time buyers Tammy Hassel (36) and her husband Bernd (36) posted party invitations through the letterboxes of the occupied properties and more than 40 people turned up.

Commenting on the availability of the four-bedroom showhome – a Burford house-type, the fastest-selling at Corsham Rise because it is designed to meet the needs of young families – Cotswold Homes’ sales and marketing director, Terri Hayes-Pugh, said: ‘This is an opportunity to live the dream in your very own showhome. It contains thousands of pounds worth of beautiful window treatments, statement lighting and flooring, all of which are included in the price.’

In the centre of the double-fronted property a spacious entrance hall links the lounge – which has French windows opening on to a patio and lawned garden – with an open-plan kitchen-dining suite. The latter is big enough to feature double-glazed windows at both the front and back of the house where an adjacent utility room provides access to the garden.

Just inside the front door a study could instead be used as a playroom by a family with small children.

Upstairs the four bedrooms – each big enough for a double bed – include a master-suite with its own en-suite as well as built-in wardrobes and a cupboard.
