Buying our brand new home off-plan, and then watching it take shape, was the right thing to do

After weeks spent relocating from Warwickshire and then living in rented property while house-hunting in Clevedon, the couple are now settled in the seaside town which is within easy reach of Peter’s new Weston-super-Mare based job as group operations director of a South West multi-franchise motor group.

‘We looked at a number of Clevedon’s Victorian properties which were either too big or required a lot of work, so it didn’t take us long to find Horizon and decide that one of the four-bedroom detached homes would suit us perfectly,’ says Sue. ‘Unlike the Victorian homes we saw, those at Horizon combine modern features like fuel-efficient gas central heating with high levels of insulation – a very important consideration for everyone currently.’

The Haynes’ first visit to Horizon was long before the show home opened for viewing, recalls Sue: ‘Construction work had only been under way for a few weeks but after donning hard hats and viewing our house it in its ‘raw’ state, we both knew that – for the first time in our lives – buying brand new off-plan and then watching it take shape was the right thing to do.’

On the day Sue and Peter turned up on site to reserve the property, they were alarmed to find someone hot on their heels who was keen to acquire the same house which was on the market for £469,999.

‘We wasted no time and pipped the other buyer to the post,’ recalls Sue who says the location of their new home ticks all the boxes.
